I have waited 12 months to share this email with you. I am so excited the night has arrived.
Below is Mel's testimony to her 12 month goal. In the 12 months there were hard (and even real hard times), but she did not let go of her goal. The facebook post made her accountable. No one else knew what she was doing, but Mel knew.
Anyone can lose weight for a week or two. But long term, that's hard. That's where the mindset focus has to be stronger; as physically it can hurt.
Last week Mel text to me her photo. The goal had happened. In text conversation I asked Mel, "what was it Mel that made this happen?" (I often ask this, as I truly believe nothing of this is me, as I can give similar information to two clients and get very different results. Ultimately, it is you who activate the decisions).
Mel's text back: "Nic, my doctor told me I needed more willpower; you just said I needed to love myself".
Mel's statement has rocked my week.
That's why we often will eat the chicken salad at work, as there is social approval there, but when we go home we do a different behaviour, as there is no "social judgement" there.
Successful will happen if come from a place of "love" for ourselves. We are with ourselves at every moment of the day.
Ultimately what we eat and drink, even when no one is watching, will affect how we feel. You know you will feel better eating the prepared dinner than buying take away.
Don't short change yourself.
Thank you Mel for staying commitment to YOU. Thank you for allowing me the honour to be apart of your journey. Thank you for being a proud purple FLASH lady. Thank you for taking the time to look after yourself. Never underestimate the ripple effect this will have. xx
Why I waited 12 months to change my cover photo on Facebook.
12 months ago I was not even in photos (even with my kids), let alone post one on Facebook!
That is until Nic's inspirational #nomoresidelineliving
She wanted me to be in a Family Santa photo. Reluctantly I agreed.....THEN Nic wanted me to post it on Facebook! First thought was aggghhhhh NOOO!
So with great angst and dread, I did it, all the while thinking "OMG what will people think?". But then I thought oh well this IS me, I am not happy with the me in that picture but it was ME!
I even decided to make it my Cover photo for all to see, I was determined to leave it there until the next Santa photo as well and use it as my inspiration to keep me on track. Because I was adamant that it was not what the next Santa photo of me would look like!
Over that time I have been in as many photos with my kids and hubby as I can and even posting them to Facebook, (even a few selfies lol )
As you can see in the new Santa pic I don't look like the old me anymore and I couldn't be prouder of myself.
I see this new one as an inbetweener pic though. As I am determined that next years will be even better!
What stands out to you from the two photos of Mel? To me, its the radiating confidence. Its the joy in her eyes. It's the lifestyle changes Mel has made in the last 12 months that have developed this personal proudness. This is a good thing!
Last Saturday we were at Maitland Parkrun. As Mel jogged across the finish line, her Son Caleb joined her. As they crossed, he turned and said "Well done mummy".
Captured Moments. Be Brave and be with your loved ones. Don't wait, we know this year has gone so fast. If we keep waiting, we will just miss out.
Can I encourage you to also have a family photo with Santa. Be in the photo. Don't crictise the photo. Just be in it.
So far I have 3 Santa Photos (thank you Emma, Kristy and Mel!!), but we can go HIGHER cant we? There is more than 3 families who receive this email each Sunday.
Forget others judgement. Stand for you. Be Proud of you. It all starts with you.
