Hello beautiful. Do you know you are incredible? Well you are. And do you know your body is incredible as well? Well it is.
A thought concept -
The metaphor of a car can be similar to us and life. Cars need fuel. Cars do not run on air. It is similar for our bodies. We have been given a very sophisticated digestive system. We can not function without a nutrient supply, which we can provide to our bodies by what we choose to eat.
Our body is much like a car in the aspect that a car needs good fuel, water, and oil regularly. The type of fuel chosen will affect the performance and even life span of your engine.
Similarly, if we don't treat our body's with the Quality "fuel, water and oils", we will not gain the optimum performance or life span out our body's. We need quality fuel to function well. Discounted "fuel" will see discounted performance, and experience of symptoms like tiredness, agitation and restless sleep.
Our body's do so much for us - breath - energy - move - digest - our heart beats continuously - regenerates - creates little humans - fixes broken bones - rests and repairs - fights off illnesses; and its often not until one of this functions stops, do we realise its value.
Challenge Concept - Expense on "Fuel"
Kerry, my beautiful client shared this testimony with me a few weeks back:
Nic at first glance some non healthy foods (cherry ripe) may seem cheaper, then the healthy options like just say cherries, blueberries or mangos!
I was at the supermarket walked up to the cherries yummy great for my body... WHAT $14.00 a kg what a joke. (Not getting them at that price!) At the checkout yum chocolate cherry ripe $1.75 each nice not so great for my body, (oh but I've been so good and worked so hard) Then it came to me!! How much was I willing to pay for this chocolate? So I worked out how much a kg was the cherry ripe $32.00 a kg but I wasn't willing to get the cherries that I love and are great for my body!!!!!!!
On first glance we see the $1.75 and think that's affordable, yet the cherries are seen as not affordable. But this decision was made when the two products were not compared equally.
Imagine if we did all our shopping buying products based on their per kg weight. Have you thought about the per kg to dollar price for say chocolate, lollies, chips or biscuits?
And how do you feel after eating these products and what is driving you to purchase them? We are so subject to marketing. We believe the marketing pitch rather than trusting our body. You know after eating a bag of lollies or the whole block of chocolate you probably wont feel great, but we do it anyway.
One of my clients this week gave up chocolate for the week. At the end of the week, her message to me was "i haven't even missed it!"
What direction you want to go? What fuel do you need on board to get you there?
There are times when I feel I have failed as a dietitian. Its taken time for myself to understand that this is not my journey. Ultimately only you can do it.
